Extension: Finglish to Persian

This Privacy Policy describes how the Finglish to Persian Chrome extension (“the Extension”) handles information when you use it. The Extension converts selected Finglish (Persian written in Latin letters) and English text into Persian script.

Summary: We do not operate a backend server for this Extension. Your optional API key stays on your device. Selected text is sent to Google services only when you convert text. We do not sell your data.

1. Information we process

Selected text — When you use the shortcut or context menu to convert text, the highlighted text is processed so it can be converted to Persian.
Optional Google Gemini API key — If you choose to add a key in Settings, it is stored only in Chrome’s local storage on your device and is used only to call Google’s Gemini API when you convert text.
Settings — Preferences such as model name, system prompt, and keyboard shortcut are stored locally in Chrome storage on your device.

2. How information is used

To convert selected text to Persian script at your request
To remember your settings on this device
To call Google conversion services you choose to use (free path or Gemini)

3. Where text may be sent

When you trigger conversion, selected text may be sent over HTTPS to:

Google Input Tools (inputtools.google.com) — free Finglish-to-Persian conversion when no Gemini key is set
Google Translate (translate.googleapis.com) — free conversion for some English sentences when no Gemini key is set
Google Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) — only if you provide your own API key

These are Google services. Their handling of data is governed by Google’s own privacy policies. The Extension does not send data to the developer’s own servers because the Extension has no developer-operated backend.

4. Data we do not collect

No analytics SDKs packaged in the Extension for advertising profiles
No sale of personal data
No use of conversion data for lending or credit scoring
No account registration with the Extension developer

5. Permissions

The Extension requests permissions needed for its single purpose: converting selected text on web pages you use, and contacting Google APIs for conversion. Broad page access is used so conversion can work on the sites where you write or select text. The Extension does not scrape websites in the background.

6. Data retention

Settings and optional API key remain on your device until you clear extension data or uninstall.
We do not retain conversion history on our servers (we do not operate one).
Google may process conversion requests according to their policies and retention rules.

7. Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. Do not provide personal information of children through the Extension.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after updates means you accept the revised policy.
